Natural onyx nodules

The onyx and marble are made of a homogeneous mass of calcite or aragonite in various colors, which can range from orange, red, yellow, black, white, brown, etc. Its low hardness permits that can be used in the manufacture of a large number of decorative objects and the construction industry. Its color depends primarily on the rock impurities that change the color in each case.

Hardness: 3-4 Mohs Scale

Mexican onyx vein

Marble (onyx), which are mined in various parts of the Mexico, is limestone transmormed through a physical and mechanical process, that causes increased pressure and temperature of the rocks to achieve recrystallization of the calcite or aragonite that composes, making limestone is recrystallized in itself, increasing the size of the crystals and destroy the fossils of the original rock.
